Hello, I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook. If you've done any grocery shopping lately, you've probably noticed that food prices are on the rise. In fact, the bureau of labor statistics reports prices on some commodities are up three times over last year. Outlook's Phil Vaughn reports on some of the reasons for the increase and explains why we might have to get used to paying more for our food. |

So, assuming high food prices are going to be with us for awhile, some consumer advocates advise buying in bulk, buy generic, shop weekly and choose less processed foods. The latter is good for your health and your wallet. |

Presumptive republican presidential nominee John McCain returns to the Granite State to thank supporters. |

John McCain returned to New Hampshire this week. It was his first visit since clinching the delegates needed for the Republican Presidential nomination, and it was billed as a thank you to the state that launched his comeback. True to form, McCain held a town hall meeting, much like those he conducted during the Primary. Outlook's Richard Ager has the story from Exeter. |

Sen. McCain told his supporters that New Hampshire will be a battleground state in this year's election, and so he intends - quote - "to be back and back and back" - because he needs this state to win the presidency. |

Some of the Pease Greeters also support the troops by participating in a program called We Care Packers. The all volunteer group sends care packages to troops serving overseas. Outlook Associate Producers Jennifer Clark and Adam Donovan show us how the program works. |

At this VFW post in Rochester, dozens of volunteers are busy assembling what they call We Care Packages filled with the comforts of home. The operation started in 2003, by Marlene Brooks, who had a son serving in Korea at the time. The VFW provides the space to put the packages together, and postage to ship them overseas. |

It usually takes at least two weeks for the packages to arrive. |

WASHINGTON, DC – President George W. Bush today honored the “Pease Greeters” for their dedication to our men and women in uniform during a White House Oval Office meeting that Senator John Sununu arranged for representatives of the service organization. “Along with a memory that surely will last a lifetime, President Bush gave the ‘Pease Greeters’ the recognition they so richly deserve,” said Sununu, who attended the White House visit. “I have joined the ‘Greeters’ at Pease to welcome our troops and can attest to their limitless dedication to making sure members of the military for duty and return home with the strongest of support. I thank the President for taking the time to honor the great work and patriotism of this unique group.” The ‘Pease Greeters’ selected the following members to represent the group at the White House: Edmund Johnson , of Rye Beach, NH; Charles Cove , of York Beach, Maine; Harold Page , of Dover, NH; Charles Nichols , of Eliot, Maine; Alan Weston , of New Castle, NH; and Bill Hopper , of Rochester, NH. The group arrived in Washington, DC on Sunday evening for a two-day tour of the Capitol. In addition to the White House visit, Sununu arranged for the “Greeters” to tour the war memorials and monuments on the National Mall, the Pentagon, the Naval Observatory, the United States Capitol, and Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The ‘Greeters’ first organized in the spring of 2005 when they met a group of veterans returning from the Near East. Since then, the group has grown to more than 100 individuals, who gather at Pease on short notice, day or night, to greet or send off troops who may be passing through Pease. The 6 who traveled to Washington represent the scores of volunteers who have joined the Pease greeters since 2005. |
