Hello. I'm Richard Ager. Welcme to NH Outlook. This week we are taking a closeup snapshot of the Nashua Economy. This is part of our collaboration on the Patchwork Nation project with the PBS Newshour and the Christian Science Monitor. Nashua is one of several communities selected nationwide to measure over the next year how the nation is working to emerge from its Economic crisis.
V/O:
Welcome to main street, Nashua and one of its mainstays, Michael Timothy's Bistro. Back in 1995, half the storefronts on this street and city planners were searching for the way to economic revitalization. Michael Buckley decided to take a chance and open a Bistro in a tough part of town. The bistro was a hit, and helped attract many other resturants to what is now a vibrant quarter of Nashua. Michael Buckley now has two succesful restaurants on Main St. and another in neighboring Merrimack. And in 2008, Buckley was named the state's restaurateur of the year.
ON CAM:
And Michael Buckley joins us in the place that started it all for him- Michael Timothy's Bistro. Also with us, Chris Williams, President of the Nashua Chamber of Commerce. Nick Pappas, Eeditorial page Editor of the Nashua Telegraph - and her honor Mayor Donnalee Lozeau, Mayor of Nashua. Welcome all.
