Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook. I'm Allison McNair. This week a lot of our attention has been focused on the national front and especially on the reality of bioterrorism. In New Hampshire on Friday, many turned their attention to homeland security in the granite state.

The head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission travelled to Seabrook to talk about the safety of the Plant - in the wake of the the events of September eleventh.
Senator Bob Smith- a ranking member of the Environment and public works committee - was there taking part in a statewide safety inventory. NRC Commissioner Jeff Merrifield said- the commission is pleased with enhanced security measures at the plant, and he sees no need to ban airplanes from flying over the facility.

How safe are New Hampshire's borders by land or by sea?
That was the topic at a conference on international shipping security in Concord. Business leaders heard from Coast Guard Commander Stephen Flynn who's calling for more shipping security, and the use of additional technology. Flynn says American customs officials should work with foreign officials to clear shipments before they arrive at our borders.

Governor Jeanne Shaheen says she supports the idea of a North American security perimeter. The governor is in Canada on a trade mission and says she's in favor of harmonizing Canadian and U-S regulations to keep terrorists out of the United States and Canada.
