Return to index of stories...
From the collapse of energy giant Enron to the criminal investigation into Tyco International's former CEO. when it comes to knowing right from wrong - just what is going on inside corporate America?
That's the topic of our program.
And the troubles couldn't be closer to home.
Thursday TYCO International announced it's selling its headquarter complex in Exeter and cutting about 115 corporate jobs. It's not kown how many of those are here in New Hampshire.
The news comes in the wake of Federal investigations and an indictment of TYCO's former CEO.

On the cover of this week's Time magazine - one headline reads "CEOs behaving badly." Inside - an article outlining the rise and fall of former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski. Its title - Dennis the Menace.
Under Kozlowski's reign - the company became a 38 billion dollar conglomerate with over 700 acquisitions orchestrated by its former CEO. But last week, Kozlowski resigned to face charges he evaded 1 million dollars in New York state taxes on the purchase of rare artwork.
Meanwhile, New Hampshire's TYCO representatives were not available to comment on the resignation of Koslowski, the firing of its general counsel this week or new reports that the Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an investigation.
But a statement on the company's website: says it will cooperate fully with the SEC investigation into criminal charges against its former CEO.

Return to index of stories...
Almost every day - it seems- there's news about questionable accounting practices by companies and their corporate executives.
Wednesday, the government took steps to hold CEOs more accountable. The Securities and Exchange Commission voted in favor of a proposal that would require chief executive officers to put their signature on company financial reports.
The aim - that CEOS would have greater responsibility when it comes to company finances. The move comes as a result of the onslaught of business scandals.
John Freear from UNH Whittemore School of Business and Economics and Tom Sedoric of AG Edwards and Sons. So are CEOs operating without any guiding moral principals?

Return to index of stories...
Roman Catholic Bishops
are meeting in Dallas to come up with a policy to deal with sexual abuse in the church. New Hampshire Bishop John McCormack is among those attending the two day gathering. In a Thursday afternoon media conference call, the Bishop was asked what he would to do at the Manchester diocese, if a zero tolerence policy is NOT adopted by the bishops.

"If this comes out as a comprehensive plan that we're asked to keep, I will do what the national conference does. That is still open for discussion. We want to come through as a unified body to deal with this."

The Bishop also spoke about the use of mediation in settling sexual abuse cases.
The plan would allow victims to seek counseling, cash and other services through a mediator whether or not they have a lawyer or have filed claims or lawsuits against the church.
A lawyer representing 50 accusers says he would advise clients against entering mediation without a guarantee of a "fair and final resolution."
