Democratic presidential candidates worked hard this week to gain ground on former Vermont Governor Howard Dean. Two new polls show Dean is well ahead of the rest of the pack. Thursday, Massachusetts Senator John Kerry greeted Nashua residents with former governor Jeanne Shaheen by his side. Late in the day there was word that Kerry plans on making a sizeable loan to his own campaign. He will mortgage his home in order to get an 850 thousand dollar boost. James, the money isn't coming from his wife - Theresa Heinz - of the Heinz Ketchup family fortune. Is he prohibited from using that money? |

Connecticut Senator Joe Liberman took aim at Howard Dean this week. Lieberman criticized the Vermont governor for his lack of experience in foreign policy. Leiberman's comments came after Dean said the capture of Sadaam Hussein would not make the U.S. safer. |

There may be a new Superior Court Chief Justice in New Hampshire by the first of the year. At this week's Executive Council meeting, Governor Craig Benson nomined Robert Lynn of Windham. Lynn currently serves as a judge for the Superior Court Hillsborough County. He was nominated to that seat by former Governor Judd Gregg back in 1992. On Monday the Executive Council will hold a public hearing on the matter. |

This week - the State Board of Education passed a resolution condemning an ammendment that would take away the state Supreme Court's control over education funding and give it to the legislature. New Hampshire's new Episcopal bishop has been named person of the year by a national gay magazine. The Advocate says Bishop-elect Gene Robinson is a symbol in the battle to move religion away from hatred and exclusion and toward love and equality. |

Smith who now lives in Sarasota told the Associated Press he'll make a formal announcement in January about his plans to run for the seat of retiring Florida Senator Bob Graham. Smith served two terms as U.S. Senator to New Hampshire before John Sununu defeated him in the Republican primary. |
