Hello/Intro TributeReturn to index of stories... |
Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook. Hundreds of visitors spent Monday at the site where Ronald Reagan was laid to rest over the weekend-- his presidential library in Simi Valley, California. The library re-opened more than a week following the 40-th president's death and three days after his funeral in Washington D-C. Thousands of family, friends and dignitaries came together at the National Cathedral to remember the former president. Reagan's death was an opportunity for many who knew him to share their memories. Ronald Reagan forged his greatest bonds with New Hampshire during his primary campaigns here in 19-76 and 19-80. Also on Friday, New Hampshire took time to remember the former president. Videographer Todd Ziemek attened one of the ceremonies. |
Intro MemoriesReturn to index of stories... |
After Reagan's death we went back through our archives and Richard Ager put together this recollection of some of the most memorable moments Ronald Reagan shared with the people of this state. |

One year ago, Governor Craig Benson signed a bill renaming Mt. Clay to Mount Reagan. It remains to be seen as to whether the federal government will agree to make that change official. |

The world's most powerful leaders met last week in Sea Island, Georgia for the G-8 Summit. President Bush was among those attending the two-day meeting of eight of the world's major industrial countries. While the meeting had a serious tone. there was some excitement for folks from New Hampshire's "Windsor Institute." Sack back chairs from the Hampton chair making school were sent down to surround the main conference room used by the heads of state. Allison McNair with more on the art of making a Windsor chair. |

Intro SalmonReturn to index of stories... |
Fishermen hoping to catch a salmon in the Merrimack river had a tougher time than usual this spring. That's because the US Fish and Wildlife stocked the river much later than planned. They were concerned about the level of PCBs in their hatchery raised fish. Then the state department of health and human services weighed in with an advisory. What does this mean for the farm raised salmon we buy at the supermarket? Julie Donnelly reports. |
Tag SalmonReturn to index of stories... |
One reassuring note - much of the farm raised salmon that we buy in New Hampshire actually comes from Chile, where PCB levels are thought to be lower than in North America. Health officials say removing the skin before cooking salmon can reduce the amount of PCBs you are consuming. For more information about fish safety and heart health, go to american heart dot org. |
