-- President Bush says the latest Internet technology should be available to everyone, not just people in cities. He says his administration is working toward getting high-speed Internet access, or broadband, to "every corner of America" by 2007. Bush saw a demonstration of broadband and wireless technology before speaking at the Commerce Department today. He says he's impressed by the ways broadband technology and certain software can be used to protect the nation. Bush says he saw software that enables a camera to distinguish between a squirrel and a bomb. The president says broadband technology also makes the economy more efficient -- and promotes productivity -- by bringing customers and businesses closer together. |

-- A-T-and-T says it will stop selling local and long-distance residential service in seven states. The company blames a court decision that it says makes prices too high. Existing customers will be able to keep their service and the announcement does not affect business or government customers. The company has four-point-three million residential customers nationwide and 30 million long-distance customers. It would not disclose how many customers it has in the states where it will stop selling new service. A-T-and-T says its decision comes as a result of a court ruling that overturned Federal Communications Commission rules requiring regional Bell companies to sell access to their networks at a discount. The seven states are: Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, Tennessee and Washington. |

We'll take a look at the sexual harrassment law in NH. New Hampshire Attorney General Peter Heed officially stepped down Monday amid allegations of sexual harassment. Deputy Attorney General Kelly Ayotte is assuming Heed's duties. She's been nominated for the top job and if confirmed will become the first woman to serve as New Hampshire's attorney general.
