Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
The Granite State has a long proud history when it comes to Presidential Politics.
Most people already know that Franklin Pierce -- who hails from NH -- was the 14-th president of the United States. Highways and schools serve as reminders of his place in history.
But, did you know that NH also holds claim to a Vice President?
Jeremiah Jones Colbath-- a self-educated farm boy -- was born in the town of Farmington.
As a young man he changed his name to Henry Wilson and went on to become this country's 18-th Vice President under President Ulysses S. Grant.
Producer Phil Vaughn had the chance to talk with John Nolan, a local newspaper editor -- who's been working to bring the name of Henry Wilson
out of obscurity.

Let's fast forward now to present politics.
Week after week, the Granite State has played host to key members of the Bush
and Kerry Presidential campaigns. Our four electoral votes are up for grabs.
Why are we so important to the race?
Richard Ager shows us what makes New Hampshire a battleground state.

Finally, efforts are underway to give VOICE to those not yet old enough to vote.
Such is the case at the Kearsarge Arts Theatre Company of New London, where "Mail To The Chief" -- a musical with a presidential message -- was recently performed.
Phil Vaughn brings us the story.
