We begin with the race for the White House.
A new poll of likely New Hampshire voters shows Democrat John Kerry ahead of President Bush in the Granite State.
The Franklin Pierce College poll gives Kerry a 50 to 41-percent lead over President Bush.
Ralph Nader had 1-percent, and another 7-percent remain undecided.

Hoping to sway those coveted undecideds --both campaigns have been very active in NH -- a key battleground state this time around.
John Kerry returned to the state Monday for the second time this month -- the 4th time since winning the state's presidential primary in January.
He attended an early morning rally at Dover High School where he continued to hammer at the Bush administration -- and slammed the president over missing Iraqi explosives that were supposed to be guarded by the U-S military after March 2003.
Meantime, there's talk President Bush may be back in New Hampshire before Election Day.
We'll keep you posted on that front.
On Monday, the President spoke at a rally in Greeley, Colorado -- and focused on terrorism and re-iterated his commitment to the war on terror.

Q TOM/JOE:
Both candidates trying to "DIFFERENTIATE" themselves on the War -- But, DON'T Bush and Kerry have SIMILIAR plans for Iraq??
Q It's becoming increasingly clear that TURNOUT will decide the 2004 Election.
In fact.it's so close -- pundits say the candidate with the better machine could sweep the battleground states.
TRUE? --and, WHO has the better machine in NH ?
Q Still a suprisingly LARGE number of UNDECIDEDS in battleground
states, WHY?
Q Candidates, and surrogates have been dropping in on NH for weeks.
Are those visits and MILLIONS in adverstising having an EFFECT?
Q JOE: Former President Bill CLINTON has joined JOhn Kerry on
campaign trail. Will he energize the base, as hoped?
TOM: He's strong among african americans -- is that worrisome
for the Bush camp?
Q JOE: Former NY Mayor Rudy Guiliani -- stumping for the President on
the issue of War and Terrorism -- Going after the SWING voters.
your response???
Q According to a study on late breaking voters in the 2000 Election --
22% of voters make their final decision in last few weeks -- 5-to-10%
make final decision DAY of election.
Would it take further deterioration in Iraq or the economy
to change that?
Q OCTOBER SUPRISE?
TOM/JOE: Could the failing health of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
Wm Rehnquist -- become an 11th hour election issue?
Q Let's talk about the POLITICS of the FLU. Given the vaccine shortage
Clinics have been cancelled everyone
the hi-risk elderly are upset -- and questions have been raised about the HANDLING of the situation.
TOM: Shouldn't this have been foreseen?
Q What about the FLAP over the remark made by THERESA HEINZ KERRY on the
First Lady not holding a Real job.
Republicans -- grabbing hold of this. FAIR GAME?
Q JOE: What about all this talk of DIRTY tricks. Are there questionable activities going on in NH this campaign season?
Q The STEM CELL DEBATE is starting to RESONATE with Voters.
Recently Michael J Fox was in NH for Kerry -- who supports EXPANDING research.
The President supports "limited" research of embryonic stem cells.
TOM: Is the President worried about LOSING GROUND on this issue?
Q Ovewhelming majority of voters will vote on: jobs, the economy, Iraq, terrorism and health care. Will Wedge issues like religion and gay marriage -- they have more of an impact this election moreson than in others given the closeness of the race?
Q Any predictions on what we'll see in this the last full week of the CAMPAIGN SEASON?
======
Rallying the base.its working 70% agree stakes HIGHER than in previous years
going after SWING voters

Return to index of stories...
Let's talk about the Gubernatorial race-- EQUALLY as close.
The Franklin Pierce College Poll gives Governor Craig Benson and challenger John Lynch 45-percent each. Sitting Governor's just don't fail in their election bids here in NH!
Q TOM: So, Why then is Governor Benson in such a "squeaker" against a relative unknown like JOhn LYnch?
script iconGov Discussion
Return to index of stories...
Q The race seems to have been reduced to TAXES and ETHICS.
Benson wanting us to believe that Lynch would raises Taxes,
and Lynch saying he will restore Integrity to the Office.
EFFECTIVE strategies?
Q Last week's gubernatorial Debate -- a bit contentious. Up against the highly viewed game 5 of the Red Sox /Yankees series.
The Final debate comes in Nashua on Tuesday --
TOM/JOE: What do the candidates have to do to SURGE ahead?
Q TOM/JOE: Certainly a lot of Personal attacks in the debates and the ads -- each accusing the other of telling untruths.
Anything in particular resonating with the candidates?
Q
BETH:
NH OUTLOOK will be airing excerpts from the 3 Gubernatorial debates that were NOT
televised -- on Wednesday. Part of our ongoing effort to help you make INFORMED
decisions on election day.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - First Lady Laura Bush is playing down
the latest campaign controversy surrounding Teresa Heinz Kerry, the
Democratic challenger's wife.
Speaking this morning in New London , Mrs. Bush
said she has no ill will toward Heinz Kerry over comments the
Democrat made about the first lady's jobs. In an interview, Heinz
Kerry said she didn't know if Mrs. Bush had ever had - what she
called - "a real job." She apologized for having forgotten about
Mrs. Bush's ten years as a teacher and librarian.
Mrs. Bush said John Kerry's wife didn't need to apologize. She
said she knows how tough it is to answer reporters' questions and
knows sometimes there are trick questions.
Mrs. Bush is on a campaign bus tour through New Hampshire with
daughter Jenna Bush; Senator Judd Gregg; Cindy McCain, wife of
Arizona Senator John McCain; and Kitty Sununu, wife of New
Hampshire Senator John Sununu.
