Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook. In this program -- we take a look at the arts in New Hampshire-- with a little poetry, some photography and music. We begin with the poems of Cheryl Savageau. The Abenaki Indian and French Canadian poet made a stop at the University of NH to share her poetic insights with students. Chip Neal spoke with her on campus. |

Cheryl Savageau has recieved fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and has held Residency Fellowships at the MacDowell Colony for the Arts. |

Finally, New Hampshire's Philharmonic Orchestra has launched its 100-th season The community-based institution in Manchester-- can trace its roots back to 19-05. The orchestra is offering a number of programs to mark its century milestone-- Chip Neal took in an early rehearsal with the orchestra. |

He talks about his new book, "Rock Portraits." Plus, Chip Neal takes us to a rehearsal of New Hampshire's Philharmonic Orchestra. The community-based institution is celebrating 100 years of making music. Tuesday November 23 President Franklin Pierce In this special edition of our program, we celebrate the birthday of President Franklin Pierce. Pierce was born November 23, 1804 in Hillsboro, New Hampshire. Richard Ager looks at the life and times of New Hampshire's only president. Wednesday November 24 NH Supreme Court Justice John Broderick New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice John Broderick has announced his intention to bring major changes to the state’s court system. He sat down with Richard Ager to outline his plans to make our courts more accessible to citizens. Thursday November 25 Thanksgiving Special Edition Beth Carroll brings us a special Thanksgiving edition of NH Outlook. We'll learn the surprising connection between the town of Newport, New Hampshire, and the origins of the Thanksgiving holiday. Beth also takes us to Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth where we learn about Thanksgiving celebrations through the centuries. |
