Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
For 47 years Steve Barba worked at the Balsams Resort in Dixville Notch, going from teenage golf caddy to President of the company.
In that time, he played a key role in reviving a grand hotel in decline.
Today, the Balsams is a destination for vacationers from around the world and, every four years, Dixville Notch residents go there to cast the FIRST ballots in the nation for President.
Barba is now the Balsams Innkeeper Emeritus.
Richard Ager visited with Barba in Dixville Notch and looked back on his five decades of involvement in the North Country's economy and community life.
It's the first in our "New Hampshire Originals" series.
