Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
In this program we take a look at individuals helping to keep Martin Luther King Junior's dream alive.
To honor the slain civil rights leader, the New Hampshire Martin Luther King Coalition awards New Hampshire citizens who work for social justice.
This year the Coalition is honoring students at Manchester's Central High School.
Two student organizations: the Diversity Club and Amnesty International are receiving this year's
Lionel W. Johnson Award for their work.
They also received a special visit from the Reverand Al Sharpton.
Outlook's Phil Vaughn met some of the Diversity Club students in Manchester and as you'll see, they even helped him tell the story.

New Ipswich made national news last Spring when some undocumented immigrants there were detained by police.
The alleged violation-- trespassing.
The actions were both praised and criticized by activists on both sides of the immigration debate.
Judy Elliot, an outspoken opponent of the arrests--works for the Immigration Rights Task Force in Concord.
Protest activities she helped organize in New Ipswich -- are all part of the work she does on behalf of New Hampshire's newest residents.
As Outlook's Phil Vaughn tells us it also helped earn Elliot this year's Martin Luther King Award from the N-H M-L-K Coalition.

Martin Luther King Jr., Award
New Ipswich, New Hampshire made national news last spring when local police detained some undocumented immigrants for allegedly trespassing. The actions were both praised and criticized by activists on both sides of the immigration debate. One outspoken opponent of the arrests is Judy Elliott, who works for the Immigration Rights Task Force in Concord. The protest activities Judy helped organize in New Ipswich are just part of the work she does on behalf of New Hampshire's newest residents. And it helped earn her this year's Martin Luther King, Jr., Award. Outlook’s Phil Vaughn has the story.
Celebrating Diversity
The New Hampshire Martin Luther King Coalition, which is responsible for the presentation, also honors young people who make diversity, civil rights and tolerance a part of their lives. This year, the Lionel W. Johnson Award goes to students at Central High School in Manchester. Two student organizations - the Diversity Club and Amnesty International - are recognized for their work. They also received a special visit from the Reverand Al Sharpton. Outlook’s Phil Vaughn met some of the Diversity Club students in Manchester and as you'll see, they even helped him tell the story.

Seeing Seniors: Aging Well
In this edition of NH Outlook’s series “Seeing Seniors,” we look at aging well. Former Portsmouth Mayor Eileen Foley is aging well at 88 and is out with her second book. She joins Outlook host Beth Carroll in-studio to talk about “Again, the Pleasure is All Mine.” The book is a compilation of stories she wrote for the monthly newsletter for the Community Council of Senior Citizens.
Scheduled guests: Zane Knoy, gerontologist and author of “Aging for Dummies,” and Rose Arthur, executive director of the RISE program at Rivier College.
Also in this program: Yardley Chittick is 105 years old. But, “old” isn’t what comes to mind when you meet this vibrant and engaged centenarian. He was 19 during Prohibition, and 38 during the Hurricane of 1938. And he practiced patent law into his 80’s. Outlook’s Chip Neal visits with Chittick at his retirement home in Concord.
