In the late 19-40s, when it all started, the McDonald brothers sold their hamburgers for 15-cents and fries for a dime. The most expensive item on the menu was the shake - it sold for twenty cents. |

NH's own Bode Miller will be off for gold in the next few weeks as he hits the slopes at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. The 28-year-old Miller grabbing headlines, of late, for comments about "skiing wasted" on 60 Minutes --and for his remarks to "Rolling Stone Magazine" about other sports greats using drugs to boost their skills. He often speaks his mind -- and apologizes later. A New Hampshire filmmaker has captured the "essence" of the renegade ski champion from Franconia. Bill Rogers -- a longtime neighbor and friend of the Miller family-- has produced a documentary about the skier entitled "Bode Miller Flying Downhill." In it, Miller talks about growing up skiing Cannon Mountain. The "behind-the-scenes" documentary follows Miller on a journey that began at the family's homestead - and ended with his gold medal performance at the 2005 World Cup Finals. |

This time it was with an interview with Rolling Stone, where he suggests Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong took performance-enhancing drugs. The interview hits newsstands today. Miller tells the magazine he's worried someone will try to frame him for substance abuse. In October, he infuriated officials by calling for liberalized doping. Last month, he was fined for refusing to take a routine boot test after a World Cup slalom race. Earlier this month, Miller made more headlines by suggesting in an interview with "60 Minutes" that he had raced while under the influence of alcohol. |
