Coburn faces an uphill battle against the popular Democratic incumbent John Lynch. Approval ratings for Lynch have been extremely high during his first term as Governor. John Lynch was inaugurated as NH's 80-th Governor in 2005. The 53-year-old came to the post as a CEO and businessman. He served as chairman of the Board of Trustees at the state's university system and before that president of the Knoll Furniture Company in Pennsylvania.
