Hello/Intro NH VisitsReturn to index of stories... |
Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook's "NH Votes" 2008 coverage. Hello, I'm Beth Carroll. The candidates are proving New Hampshire does matter in the race for the White House. With just over two weeks to go until election day, the Presidential nominees and their running mates are stumping in the state. Demoratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama stopped in the Granite State on Thursday where he tasted defeat in January's Democratic primary. Speaking to a crowd in Londonderry, Obama criticized McCain for the negative tone his campaign has taken. Obama's running mate, Joe Biden, was in Rochester and Manchester last Monday. The Demoratic vice presidential candidate talked about taxes, offshore drilling and the negative attacks by the McCain campaign. On Wednesday, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin made her FIRST campaign trip to New Hampshire. The Alaska Governor made stops in Dover, Laconia and Salem. She praised McCain's economic plan saying it will get the economy moving again. During her visit Palin acknowledged Obama may have the lead in the state but reminded supporters McCain had been "counted-out" before the New Hampshire primary --and eventually went on to win it. Palin said voters could do the same on November 4th. Senator McCain is expected to return to New Hampshire this week. AP-NY-10-17-08 0851EDT |
