Hello/Intro Ice stormReturn to index of stories... |
Hello, I'm Beth Carroll welcome to NH Outlook. If you're watching this broadcast.chances are you have power at your home. Up until this past week.that's something you probably took for granted. Then the ice storm blew through.taking down power lines and trees throughout New England. For the state's 4 Electricity providers -- the storm posed a challenge like they'd never seen before: how to restore power to nearly 400-thousand homes. Outlook's Phil Vaughn takes us to Public Service of NH's control room in Manchester -- where scrambled to restore electricity.one line at a time. |

Scientists say the ice storm occured when a massive warm front slid in -- over top of a cold front moving south from Canada. Moisture then dropped down through the cold air resulting in ice. |

VO: A creative collaboration of two masters. VO: Taking green to new heights. |
Intro Furniture MastersReturn to index of stories... |
Our next story is about the coming together of two other powerful forces - artisan masters -- whose collaboration resulted in an unusual piece of furniture. It all began when art patron Diane Griffith commissioned artist-laureate James Aponovich and furniture master David Lamb. As Outlook's Judi Currie shows us.the end result of their work has drawn a lot of attention. Windows to the Wild host Willem Lange shows you what they're up to. |

Aponovich and Lamb also collaborated on a second piece of furniture - a desk featured at the New HampshireFurniture Masters auction in late October. |

Art, nature and science work well together. At the Children's Museum of NH you can find all 3 under one roof. After calling Portsmouth home for nearly 25 years -- the museum recently re-opened its doors in Dover. It's size has been tripled, exhibits have been increased and the old favorites have been re-created. I had the chance to visit the new museum with it's Director of Education, Jane Bard. Here's what I discovered. |

In October, the museum opened a new interactive exhibit called "Cocheco-system" which explores life on the Piscataqua River and the industrial history of Dover's textile mills. |
