We're coming to you from the new. McAuliffe/Shepard Discovery Center in Concord
NH"s official memorial to our first teacher in space - will now also preserve the memory and legacy of America's first man in space.
Hello, I'm Beth Carroll welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
We'll have much more on the Discovery Center in a moment.
But, first -- we bring you an update on the federal stimulus package and how it may benefit New Hampshire.
Outlook's Richard Ager spoke this week with Bud Fitch, the state's director of Economic Stimulus.

Municipalities are still waiting to hear what if any money they can count on from the stimulus package.
Funding. of course, is an issue for everyone these days. Not all the exhibits planned for the Discovery Center are up yet -- the expansion remains a work in progress. But this week was a big step.
The center opened its doors on Friday after years of planning and fund-raising.
The new facility -- billed as New England's only air and space discovery center -- features plenty of hands-on exhibits for visitors to explore aviation, astronomy and Earth and space sciences.
And school groups will have their questions answered by NASA-trained educators.
As Outlook's Richard Ager tells us -- the center is the culmination of a decade-long dream.

One of the new displays at the McAuliffe/Shepard Discovery Center is called "Real People, Amazing Jobs".
It tells the personal stories of people living in New England who've made a career in earth and space science.
It's also the inspiration for an annual award that will be presented by the center.
The first "Real People, Amazing Jobs" award went to Capt. Chesley Sullenberger, the U.S. Airways pilot who safely landed his aircraft in the Hudson River in January.
SOT: Sullenberger
Sullenberger -- of course, IS the country's latest aeronautic hero.

The Discovery Center also boasts a new cutting edge observatory -- much to the delight of John Gianforte - an educator and amateur astronomer.
A frequent lecturer at the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, Gianforte spends a lot of time educating the public on what to look for in the night skies.
Outlook's Phil Vaughn recently caught up with Gianforte to get his read on why 2009 is such a signifcant year for astronomy.

The Discovery center's Observatory and its interactive exhibits opened this week.
And, that's only the beginning. The center's expansion will be phased in over
the new several years --so, there's lots more to look forward to.
That concludes our program from the McAuliffe/Shepard Discovery Center in Concord.
Special thanks to our hosts here at the new science center -- and, thank you for watching NH Outlook.
I'm Beth Carroll.
I'll see you next time.
