Hello, I'm Richard Ager and welcome to NH Outlook. TWO OF THE LAST 3 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS - 2000 AND 2004 - HAVE BEEN PLAGUED BY CHARGES OF FAULTY BALLOTS AND VOTING MACHINES. FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS, A COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY THE NEW HAMPSHIRE LEGISLATURE HAS BEEN LOOKING INTO THE SECURITY OF OUR BALLOT-COUNTING MACHINES, AND IT IS NOW READY TO RELEASE ITS REPORT. WE'LL LOOK AT THE RECOMMENDATIONS IN JUST A MOMENT, BUT FIRST, SOME BACKGROUND ON JUST HOW SECURE YOUR VOTE IS. |
