Dying Well - How an end of life conversation with loved ones can make all the difference. |
Hello/Intro End of LifeReturn to index of stories... |
Welcome to NH Outlook, I'm Richard Ager. Every year as Thanksgiving and the holidays approach, it is a time to gather and share fond memories and the latest family news. Often, it is the joy of first birthdays or graduations - but every family also faces a time when a loved one is approaching the end of life. And how that person and their family members come to terms with death can make all the difference. Guest host Ally McNair recently spoke with two physicians who are widely respected for their insight on how to die well. But first, this story about a NH family whose mother spent her last days in the comfort of hospice care. A week after our taping she passed away with her children by her side. |

Here to talk about what end of life care is like in this country is Dr Ira Byock. Dr Byock is the Director of Palliative Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He is the author of Dying Well and The Four Things that Matter Most as well as the co-author of several other books. |
